Rowan James and The Basement Tapes Blues: Sunday, February 16th!

It's not a business with me. ... I'm not a professional of poetry; I'm a farmer of poetry. -Jack Gilbert, poet (18 Feb 1925-2012)

Morning Patrick Re Idelback. When do you anticipate being back in Penticton? I am slated to give blood at 3 PM Monday afternoon. I will not miss that opportunity - cannot in fact. Pls advise. David Hello Dracula! Lovely to hear from you! All going as planned, the outing will be a "true" Monday outing, for three hours, so you will have plenty of time to make your appointment for exsanguination, unless it happens to be in Transylvania!

I extended an invitation to those who will be participating to have java at our place afterwards, carpooling from 611 Burns, initially. It would be great if you could join us after the junket but certainly understand your time constraints. Anyway, our Fearless Leader, pro tem, Tall Timber Dunn, will be, I know, more than happy to hand the reins of command over to you so that you may lead us over the thin ice, [With unseasonably warm weather I've been wondering about the thickness, etc.], of Idleback and beyond! Let me know what you think and we'll plan accordingly. Regards to Margaret. Cheers, Patrizzio!

I will be glad to join in on Monday and will be a driver as well I would not in any circumstances have anyone at any time on the ice this season Period set piece See you at your abode for the meet up in the AM David da dwackular Fabuloso Drac! Cheers, Patrizzio! I just FB with Hildi She is planning on attendance as well Wonderful news as Von Bingen will be able to drive a stake through your heart and protect us all! πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‡πŸ˜„πŸ™„πŸ˜œ

Hello Family Day Four No Trumpers! [Speaking politically, Just say "NO" to Trump!] Since game was in the deepest, darkest reaches of Summerlandia last week, [Thanks for hosting, Josinta!], this Monday we will play in the ethereal light of Penticton, at the Burns Street Bistro. Please let me know who will play and I'll plan accordingly. Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! I will be there. Susan

Think I will pass for another week. I am making a decent recovery, slow but sure,    and I can do more each day but my "sitter downer" still complains if I sit up at a table for long.  Wouldn't  want it to distract me from my usual brilliant bridge playing πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚. Happy Family Day to all. AEB Hi Patrick. I am available for bridge Monday night. Thanks. Dianne Hi Patrick, I can play tomorrow! Jos If you guys need me to play I would be happy to join you all. Cheers Carol

Hello The Sisterhood! Great that O Susannah, Lady Di and Josinta can play. Unfortunately, Anne of Green Gables is still on the road to recovery. See you three at 6:30 pm. Lady Dar has a meeting this evening but may well drift in towards the end of the evening. Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Chooch! Although we have four players please join us as I am happy to serve drinks and appetizers and sit in for a few hands when someone needs a break. We also want to hear about your Swiss adventure! Furthermore, we've missed you terribly! Cheers, Patrizzio
Hi all I can play Judy Hi Judy Blue: Fabulous! Can you see if Lynda can play, [Bennie in a pinch!], as well and then we'll have enough for two tables! Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Chooch! Judy Blue can play tonight so looks like we may well have enough for two tables if you will join us! Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio!

Dearest, dearest Sue! It is with great, deep sorrow that we write to you, knowing, through Colleen and Al, the state you are in. Words simply cannot begin to express how we feel but please know that our hearts go out to you and that you are ever in our thoughts. We so enjoyed hearing about your most recent time in Mexico and, of course, were reminded of the wonderful time we spent with you and Gerry in San Miguel. The stunning desert landscape you so generously presented us with is one of our most treasured possessions, its vibrant colours and faultless lines a lasting testament to you and your rich, rich talent. Again, our heartfelt love to you, Sue. Corinne and Patrick.

By the time I was ready to ride it was just after 1:00 pm. Even though the wind was out of the S at 13 km/h, I decided it was time to return to Trout Creek even though I'd have to buck a head wind on return leg and in spite of the fact that the pedestrian/bike lane there was closed for the season, making further jog to Crescent Beach slightly more problematic. Highway 97 is usually truck-free on Sunday and with the Family Day long-weekend I suspected traffic might be even lighter than usual. Anyway, temperature was steady at 7ΒΊ C and sun was shining so conditions couldn't have been better.

Since I had decided I wanted to push my distance beyond the "basic" 51 km I've set for an ordinary outing, I tagged on extra dispy-doodles at each mini-stage of the route as I made my way to Red Wing East so by the time I left this development I had logged over 26 km. Then, leaving SunOka I was close to 35 km when I turned onto Wharf Street. Then it was just a matter of threading my way through the streets there, towards Landry Crescent and the Summerland Beach RV & Campground next to the start of the separated pedestrian/bike lane. Once there I completed three loops of Thornber, Oak and Randall, back to Landry, before retracing my steps to Wharf.

[Chloe Alexis Dunn This “little stinker” is in his PJS already for bed....πŸ₯°❤️]

I couldn't catch the lights on Johnson so I rode along 97 to Tait and when there was break in traffic I crossed the highway and looped back to Johnson having logged around 56 km by the time I was back on 97, heading home. To my surprise and delight, by this time the wind had switched, first from the SSW at 5 km/h and then, more importantly, for me, out of the NE at 5 km/h so I had a tail wind! Finally Aeolus had smiled on me and I sailed along, my legs feeling just fine, thank you, and standing up in the saddle, from time to time, not because I had to but rather for the sheer joy of it!

A quick loop around Red Wing West, shouting hello to friend Layton, in his yard as I zoomed past, and then I was back on Riverside, taking it to Lakeshore and then Power to make my way to WWW and then the back driveway at The Burns Street Bistro. Was really pleased that my AVG was 18.9 km/h, just short of my best, recent time of 19 km/h but over 51 km! Hip Hip Hooray! Cheers! Map and Stats for ride:

Hi Everyone, Our next book club is on April 1st at 7 pm. It will be at The Burns Street Bistro. The book is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. Very well-reviewed but controversy over the fact it wasn't written by a Mexican writer.
Happy Reading! Corinne Hi all. I enjoyed our free ranging discussion at book club Thursday night. It was fun. We even talked about the book. Thank you Pam for hosting and the goodies. Dianne

Two bald eagles lock talons in the snowy Alaskan wilderness at Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. “Talon clasping” or “cartwheel display” is a unique behavior exhibited by bald eagles. Eagles will clasp talons inflight and spin down to the ground, letting go just before landfall. It is a thrilling sight to behold as eagles can reach speeds of 30 mph during flight and dive at speeds upwards of 100 mph. This act may be part of a courtship ritual, as bald eagles select their partner. Or it may be an act of territorialism, proclaiming who rules the roost.
