The HSBC Canada Sevens Rugby Blues: Saturday, March 10th!

Whiskey tasting! Today, a bunch of the members purchased tickets for the March 18th event. I now have the 100 taster spots filled. If any of the guests at the top of the list don't come I will let you know if there will be a spot for you.
Judi Hi Dame Judith! Thanks but even if there isn't a spot I'll probably still have enough malt in my system from last night's VWF Dram: Glenfarclas 21 Year Old and 105 Cask Strength; The Balvenie 21 Year Old Port Wood; Scapa The Orcadian Skiren and Glansa; Macaloney's Twa Cask series, Speyside with Red Wine Barrique Finish; sometimes stooping to The Glenlivet 18 Year Old and Glenfiddich Gran Reserva 21 Year Old to mention but a few! Also three Spicy Moscow Mules, (SoVChili Vodka), from Sons of Vancouver Distillery, with chasers of Bomber Brewing's Pale Ale and Spicy Nuggs Imperial Rye Stout, just for good measure.

Duke's upside sleeping!

Off to first round of Rugby Sevens this morning and then again tomorrow. Back home on Monday. Hello to Kevin. Chat soon. Thanks again and Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Piper at start of VIP tasting; Dave Mason on left. I gather he and Kevin have talked on the phone; Victoria Caledonian Distillery!

Hi Your Vagueness! Thanks for including Sarge but he will be staying to the bitter end this evening so he will be missing out on your fabulous meal! I probably won't be bringing any hootch either since I'll still have enough malt in my system from last night's VWF Dram! Off to first round of Rugby Sevens shortly so must away. Thanks again and Cheers, Il Conduttore! Pics: Piper at start of VIP tasting; Sarge with Brenda Peterson, former UBC Library colleague; Victoria Caledonian Distillery!

Greetings! I have planned a visit with a friend on Saturday staying over until
Sunday. How long are you in town? Al and Alone said I can borrow their car and then I have a ride back unless you have a netter idea. The weather looks cold -should I borrow a winter jacket and boots from Aline? I would really like warm weather!! Lol Ski

Hi Ski! Unfortunately, we have to leave on Saturday as Lady Dar has an important meeting on Sunday morning. This being the case, I suggest you  borrow the car as well as a winter jacket and gloves! We would really like warm weather too! If you can alter your plans to come us with us on Saturday that would be a "netter", (your word), idea and you could take bus back or fly or hitch-hike! Just back from the Ruby Sevens with Flamin' and Sarge. Flamin' and I left after the second Canada game was over, close to 4:00 pm. Sarge wanted to see their third match against Uruguay which isn't on until 7:00 pm. Flamin' is meeting friends for dinner and I'm off to have supper with Ragin' Bull.
Another full day tomorrow although many of the match ups today were very interesting. Canada tied Australia, seeded well above them, a huge accomplishment, and should have tied the US, an even more unexpected effort, but a serious, unbelievably ridiculous error in the very last play of the game, when they had ball possession, cost them dearly. Had they kicked the ball out of bounds the game would have been over but instead they tried to score and US turned ball over to score for a try and a win. With a second tie under their belts they were guaranteed a spot to advance. All of this when clock had run out! Unless you understand some the rules this will make no sense! Many of the calls still don't for Sarge and I. That's saying something, especially for him, as he's pretty sports savvy.
Anyway, great good fun. Furthermore, crowd is an absolute hoot as many wear crazy costumes of all kinds, often a theme with a whole gang of friends coming as cartoon characters, nuns, lumberjacks, clowns, scuba divers, you name it! Had two lads dressed as Wonder Woman sitting next to us with about a crew of ten on other side wearing basketball togs, a few with huge Afros. Let me know what you'd like to do and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Flamin' and Sarge; Canada warming up; Canada vs Australia; NZ warming up' Samoa vs Britain with former upsetting latter, 9th seed vs 7th seed! Canada won big and needed the US to beat Australia but they lost so Canada plays Scotland at 9 30. Wayne
