King Ottokar and the Campbell Mountain Blues: Monday, January 21st!

Walking is also an ambulation of mind. -Gretel Ehrlich, novelist, poet, and essayist (b. 21 Jan 1946)

Dear Hard Rock Pile Inmates! Thanks to His Majesty, King Ottokar, for being the titular leader of the trek to find the fabled Rock Pile. Had His Royalness been left to discharge his rightful duties, without the squabbling and deliberate misdirection of jealous, overly ambitious and conniving lieutenants/saboteurs, [Whose names I dare not speak for fear of deadly retaliation, Dear Reader!], we would not have struggled, endlessly, wearily, through the deepest of deep, deep snows, up truly unscalable cliffsides but have achieved our goal, most easily and without fear of mortal injury. I never imagined, even in my wildest nightmares, that I would yearn for the tyranny of Tyrannosaurus Rex under whose iron fist such mutinous behaviour would have been crushed, summarily! Still, in spite of all odds, the expedition survived, if barely so, and I needs must thank the Herculean Human Snow Plows who tirelessly broke trail while oft breaking our weakened and ever weakening spirits. Yet the cerulean sky and the icing powder snow invigorated our very souls and I thank one and all for this journey into another Winter Wonderland. Cheers, Author Unknown but serving Life plus Forty, in Solitary, thanks be to Heaven, away from the loquaciousness of He Who Must be Endured, yet always Adored!

You probably stop by your neighborhood grocery store to buy a pound of sugar and don’t think twice about it, but that sweet white sand has traveled a lot of miles to dulcify your lemonade or tea. The word started out from Sanskrit sarkara. Persians came to India for other reasons, but developed a sweet tooth and took the word back as shakar. It became sukkar in Arabic, zucchero in Italian, zuccarum in Latin, sucre in French, before spilling into English as sugar.

Hi Organization man! Thanks for the nice words re my writing , I do enjoy scribing when the opportunity presents itself and appreciate that you constantly raise the bar and your skills in this realm are something to aspire to!. Oh yes and I don’t skim but sometime read in chunks with perhaps some time passing between so may be a little fuzzy on details when I get around to responding lol.

I do like the idea of being up there as your minuteman / handyman and the possibilities of getting work with Chloe etc. and will see what direction things go in the not too distant future. Lately I have been mulling the idea of selling the house and perhaps buying a house to live in reno and flip after a year or so. Some of the upsides to this as I see it would be no capital gains, an opportunity to work at a project on my own schedule, include my freeloading children as low paying /slave labour to help and essentially pay myself to work via the profit realized on such a venture .

O.k. and the other plan would be to just sell and move slightly East to Coquitlam and upgrade our living situation substantially.  I say this as we went looking at house yesterday and found one that we loved. So many features, not the least of which is being on a quiet street with many beautiful homes around and much redevelopment, not that that is a great thing per se but indicates an up and coming area and it can be seen everywhere. Really nice shopping district on Austin and Blue mountain area ( not sure if you are familiar with it or not) and a 10 minute drive from Lougheed mall and skytrain if needed.

Good news also is that it is 20 minutes closer to the valley and you guys of course and also has plenty of room for free loaders!.  I have to get ready for work but will keep you posted, I am finished in 4 -5 weeks on the show and will plan on a couple days to come up for a visit and some rides.  Take care for now.

Cheers! Btw. Yes it is a lot for the house but fortunately ours is probably worth about 10-20% more so could be an even trade if not us also pocketing some dough. Ttys.

Hello Real Estate People! Glad work goes well. Look forward to riding with you, Stanchion Man, whenever you are able to visit. Thanks for sending along link to house you looked at. Pleased you are beginning to think about moving closer to Penticton! Why not here? However, my frank opinion is that you should be thinking about downsizing living space, not taking on something much larger. Just more space to take care of, especially if you are not using every square inch. Of course, this depends on who will be living where, etc. My feeling is either stay where you are or sell and move to where you feel you wish to be but only with enough space, [workshop, obviously, etc., given your tools, Marilyn's garden,], to live in the style you feel you need/enjoy. As you age, you really do need less space, believe me, so spend your time and money on travel and writing, not house-cleaning, up-keep and maintenance!!! Make sure you don't skip this! Must away as I have to ready myself for bridge this evening. Two tables so should be fun. Fondestos to you both. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio, Life Coach and Writing Mentor!

Hello Campbell Mountain Mountaineers! Hats, (and toques), off to King Ottokar for leading such a sunshine blessed outing today. The pace was perfect, the terrain terrific, and all with a minimum of regal intervention. Hip Hip Hooray! Long Live The King!!! [While I don't wish to be a snitch, rumour, on the hillsides and mountain slopes, has it that The Ogre of Switchback Road may well be up for recall, given the interim benign dictatorship of King Ottokar. No dead-fall or impenetrable bushwhacking, numerous extended breaks, with barked orders coming only from Von Bingen. Please sign attached petition if interested in consigning Tyrannosaurus Tinka to the Tar Pits!] Hard to believe that we were often trekking through melting mud, let alone melting snow, while Raven Woman and The Sisterhood melted our Sensitive New Age Male hearts! Cheers, Patrizzio, Court Jester and Fool!

Hello Dunbarites! Trust you are both well. Today's hike was certainly better than a flu shot! Cheers, Patrizzio!m Hi again, Ella! Glad I remembered correct address. Missed you on the wonderful sun-drenched hike today. Quite a marked contrast from the crisp mountain air of last night. Almost shirt-sleeve weather at times! Look forward to seeing you on future outings. All the best. Cheers, Patrizzio!  'Twas wonderful! So good to see.  We had a remarkable day here too.  Glad to know you are "keeping active"! Lots of hugs Jo-Anne Hi Marps!
Trust all your resolutions are being acted upon!  As you know, I've been busy hiking, snowshoeing and playing bridge so no time to be lonely. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello all, Our table is booked at The Barking Parrot for 6:00pm this Thursday. Should we back up our visit to Patrick's to 4:45? I know that might not be great for Paul & Charlotte. Sorry! -Marian Hello Barking Parrots! Thanks for arranging table, Cousin! Fine with me about slight change in time to meet beforehand at our place for a pre-dinner drink. At any rate, I'll be here to welcome any who are able to find 611 Burns Street! Cheers, Patrizzio! Looking forward to it! Jos and Aart

Hello Monday Night Sisterhood! Thanks muchly to Judy Blue for being such a gracious host. Lovely to see Carolina back after her Mexican getaway. Really enjoyed the two tables and had a lovely time with just me and the Babes! Looks like next Monday is best for everyone and Ann Brown has offered to host "kitchen" bridge. If this information is not correct she will let everyone know by replying to "all". See everyone at 6:30 am on the 28th. Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! Correct address. Here is cell phone if anyone prefers to text. We are the 2nd house on left off Warren. Brick house with stone wall in front. OR 2nd last house on right if you come from Industrial. See you next Monday.

O Patrizzio Mio! Always great to get news but I wonder why I have morphed into "Jacqueline Daniels"? Or did I get the wrong email? With your wistful yearnings for a visit, I wouldn't want to hop on the plane if I'm not the person you hope to see! As always, Deborah Hello again, Jacqueline Daniels!! Indeed, you are the person I hope to see. Your moniker was a takeoff on wrapping needed for the bottle of Jack Daniels, featured in your Christmas card! Perhaps you had consumed too, too much Bourbon when your read my message!! Nevertheless, trust you are well. All the best, Deborah. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

OK, pardon my obtuseness! I am obviously still tied to the Buffalo Soldier era but you, Patrizzio Mio, have moved on! JD it is! Would love to visit but no promises yet... Cheers, Jacqui D. a.k.a. Deborah Hi Jacqui D! You are always welcome! Cheers, Patrizzio!
