Chloë Alexis Sings the 41st Birthday Blues: Friday, August 18th!

Someone needs to explain to me why wanting clean drinking water makes you an activist and why proposing to destroy water with chemical warfare doesn't make a corporation a terrorist. -Winona LaDuke, activist, environmentalist, economist, and writer (b. 18 Aug 1959)

Hip Hip Hooray, It's  Chloë Alexis' 41st! For She's A Jolly Good Fellow! Much Love and Cheers From Etta & Duke, Mom & Dad!

Hi Patrick, We would be pleased to accept your invitation for dinner and bridge next Saturday. We’ll bring some freshly made salsa and tortilla chips as an appetizer, and a peach-based dessert. As we discussed, if you could invite another bridge player that would give us more flexibility. Cheers, Peter

Hello Trail Running Naramatian! Trust all goes well with course. On another matter, Lady Dar and I would like to invite you and William for dinner next Saturday, August 26th. We will be having another set of Naramatians, along with their guests from Vancouver. Both husbands play bridge but not the wives so, in addition to dinner and such, we plan to play one table of bridge. Since I know, Wild Bill, doesn't play he can surround himself with The Babes and visit while we four bid. Both Peter and Byron are very good players so it is a chance to learn from them as they are very congenial teachers. I do hope you are able to join us so let me know and we'll plan accordingly.

Patrick, I replied to your dinner invitation email this morning...or at least I recall writing it. I wonder it went??? Thank you so very much for the invitation to dinner next Saturday. Unfortunately next Saturday company will just have arrived from Calgary, so we will be busy entertaining them

Up at 7:30 am this morning to wish Chloë Happy Birthday! Her 41st, Hip Hip Hooray!!! She had obviously been up for some time as she was already showered and changed, ready to see Gil at 8:30 am to sign papers for offer on Sendero Canyon condo and then to speed to Kelowna for her job interview there. Buona Fortuna on both counts. Must away as we are off, shortly, to Kamloops for a wedding tomorrow at which Lady Dar will perform ceremony. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Last night's dinner and goodbye this morning. Sendero Canyon site, yesterday afternoon. Her lot, if everything falls into place, is first one you can just see with foundation forms jutting above surrounding earth.

Can u look into vacuum system model etc. thanks: Hello Big Al! Trust fishing goes well! On another matter, Chloë has jsut put an offer on a condo in a new development, Sendero Canyon, here in Penticton and we are interested in having an in-house vacuum system roughed in during coming construction. Would you be able to provide specifications/cost for both "regular" hose and self-storing system so that we can include this information in her list of so-called up-grades. We would plan on buying whichever unit might work best, given developer's infrastructure cost quotation, from you.

While I certainly don't wish to interrupt your two day work week and more than lazy life of drinking beer and despoiling the lakes of endangered fish species, any information or suggestions/advice you can provide, in the next little while, would be most appreciated. The final offer will probably need to be submitted by a week today, Friday, August 25th, but I'm sure that can be delayed should any circumstances, on your end, warrant. Let me thank you in advance for anything you can do, Cheers, Patrizzio! PS: Please include pickerel fillets with VacuFlow quotations!

Ah Patrick, it’s always a pleasure and a chuckle when I hear from you. I just so happen to be at the lake right now but, alas, it’s a work day. Tomorrow, however, I hope to lay a licking on those tasty walleye. Too bad inter-provincial trade regulations prohibit me from including the supply of the specified pickerel in our proposal. I will send you some numbers early next week. Best regards to you and the family. Alan
Thanks, Walleye Man! However, I double checked the inter-provincial trade regulations and see that if you pack the fillets around rare, expensive single malt bottles, you are able to send as much fish as you can haul out of Lake-of-the-Woods! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Brenda Louise! Trust you are all well. We just arrived, here in town, about 3:00 pm, staying at Hotel 540. Lady Dar is just back from wedding rehearsal. She will perform ceremony for Rebecca and Corey. Flamin's/Sarge/s middle child, tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Just wondering if you around and if so I thought I might pop by to say hello sometime tomorrow morning, or perhaps on Sunday morning before we head home. Would like some seaweed and carrots! Anyway, let me know and we'll plan accordingly. Must away as we are off to wedding rehearsal dinner, apparently across the street from the hotle so at least we won't have to worry about drinking and driving. On second thought, perhaps that's not such a good thing! Fondestos form the Wedding Officiant! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Snaps from hotel gym where I used the elliptical after we checked in. I think I caught one of where you live but perhaps not!

Hi Pat looks like you are having a wonderful time in the Okanagan.
All I do here is work day and night. Right now my present curse is that I actually got an art grant from the city of Vancouver to make artistic bike racks. You may remember years ago you helped me get some letters of support from the biking community for this bike rack thing. So as part of this exercise I am having a kick off reception at Makerlabs in Vancouver. The intention is to let the public review designs of cute bike racks and discuss. I plan on having a panel of bike enthusiasts plus a city bike rack engineer to talk about good and bad bike racks. Do you have on your rolodex any listing of Vancouver bike people who might like to voice their opinions on bike racks??? Ron

Hi Everyone, Thank you for being willing to help out at an aid station for the duathlon on Monday Aug 21. Pam, can you please forward this information to Lorna and her daughter, as I don’t have their email address. Here are all the details I have from Cal:

With myself, Pam, Lorna, Francesca and Patrick we will have five volunteers. I believe Pam, Lorna and Francesca can only stay until around 12, but I hope you can stay until 1:00, Patrick. I am led to understand that we will only be handing out water to competitors. However, to hand water to a cyclist you need to do a bit of running alongside them in order to match their pace for a few seconds. Please wear footwear that is suitable for running in - water only aid station - shift is from 7am to 12noon (although potentially until 1pm) - first bikers to pass by at approximately 7:30am - location is to be confirmed by ITU officials but likely midpoint between Martin & Power - racers will be doing multiiple laps

I was trying to more precisely locate our aid station by looking at the maps of the event, but no luck. Somewhere between Martin Street and Power Street is a pretty large stretch, and could make it hard for us to find each other. I will try to find out more information today and send it when I have something more precise to share. In the meantime, if any of you know the answer, please share it with us. See you in two days everyone! Jacinta

Hi all, Wet n wonderful hike on Thursday up Vaseux Canyon... many thanks to Jim French and numerous others who helped make it a success. Should you be interested... on Monday Aug 21st, I'm hiking in the Mahoney Lake area and westward towards White Lake. Should you wish to join me that would be great! Actually, it's more of a general ramble around the area rather than a hike to a specific destination and a slower group could bypass the spur towards White Lake and still finish about the same time (I'll bring a map to share). Whole trip about 3 to 4 hours. Usual meet-up arrangements; Penticton Home Hardware at 8am or S'land IGA at 7:40 to carpool. No need to email a reply, just turn up to join the ramblers. The after hike suds on Thursday was best ever, so perhaps another will be needed to properly debrief Monday's outing... to be determined! Cheers. Phil Robson
