Painted Rock Pick-Up Party Blues: Friday, August 25th!

Bullets cannot be recalled. They cannot be uninvented. But they can be taken out of the gun. -Martin Amis, novelist (b. 25 Aug 1949)

Most Friday mornings Lady Dar is up at 6:30 am to ready herself fo rher PGH volunteer shift so I spent a glorious hour and a half listerning to Chris adn gang on CBC One out of Kelowna. Happened to hear the remarkbale story of runner trapped on the trails near the

Of course the ones that they have in stock in my size are 160 plus 25 clips!!! 205 later this hopefully will make my ride a religious experience!!!!😳 Hi Religious Experience Spin Classer! Do hope you will achieve Nirvana next time you head to gym! Maybe you'll land in Heaven feet first!!! Love and Cheers, Dad!

Dear Patrick Sorry for the late reply. What wonderful garden produce you and Corinne have raised! Bravo. Also what a beautiful wedding ceremony. Now see why Corinne likes being a Marriage Officiant. Happy and beautiful times to be had. I am sure your visit with Joan, Paul and Lisa was most enjoyable. Envied your wine tasting tours and dinner at Tinhorn Creek.

I am so pleased that the smoke has gone from Vancouver. Weather is beautiful but too too dry. Eric was home for my birthday August 12 and he attended a wedding--Jewish wedding so he found it very interesting as it was very traditional. Then my brother and his girlfriend stayed for a couple of days--they went to the Tom Petty concert. We enjoyed a wonderful picnic in Stanley Park and a grand dinner at the Stanley Park Teahouse. I went to see the Theater Under the Stars musicals Drowsy Chaperone and Mary Poppins. Really enjoyed them and I can't believe I only started going to TUTS this summer. Alex McLeod was honored in their program as he was a TUTS Lifetime supporter. Was nice to think about him.

Saw Tom Shorthouse yesterday as we had a very informal ceremony installing the UBC Library Time Capsule in LIBRARY PARC. This was a project that came out of the UBC Centennary and finally the Library Time Capsule was complete with the Golden Scrapbook Centennial Edition created by Tom. You will receive a print copy of it at the next Librarian Emeriti Luncheon Anyways I better run now. Say hello to Corinne and be sure to take care. Enjoy the rest of your summer and get in a bunch more rides. Cheers for now Jo-Anne

Hello Theatre Under the Stars Goil! Happy Belated Birthday! Hip Hip Hooray! Great that Eric was in Vancouver to help you celebrate. Very pleased to hear that Alex was honoured by TUTS. Thanks for note about Stompin' Tom and Time Capsule. Wonderful to hear, especially after the enormous amount of time and energy he devoted to such an important project. Fondestos from Lady Dar, out watering the front and back gardens. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrick, Good report and nice photojournalism. I was sorry to miss the alumni event, but had forgotten about it when I agreed to the golf outing in the midst of a party - I guess wine interferes with my judgement, too! Having made the golf commitment, I didn't want to blow off my AWON friends. Would have liked to meet Ross Fitzpatrick. How about putting the Grey Goose in the freezer in preparation for the raspberry martinis? See you tomorrow. Cheers, Peter

Dearest Dom Jugos! What a suggestione splendido about the voditchka. It is already chilling its little self so rest soundly on that account. Glad you enjoyed the snaps. Speaking of wine, earlier today, late afternoon, we attended a pick-up party at Painted Rock. [Eastside was car to car, bumper to bumper, both ways, due to a terrible accident near Kaleden and resulting detour as 97 was closed both ways. Just as we were about to leave winery we could still see flashing lights, across Skaha, I assume as part of the on-going investigation into fatal collision. Apparently some driver was doing over 100 kph and drove right into another car.] Enjoyed ourselves immensely. Food was catered by Brodo and was simply wonderful. We tasted about five or six healthy pours of PR's current releases and the Syrah is still my overall favourite, although I must say that  the Merlot, Cab Franc and Cabbage were mighty tasty as well.

Interestingly enough we bumped into Judith Walker and her husband, John. For some reason the gate to the winery was closed when we arrived and they were in the car immediately behind us, waiting while Lady Dar phoned to ask for access. Judith recognized me when they were parking but I didn't see her until we were in the Tasting Room. We know Judith from the VWF as she has been the media coordinator as well as being responsible for the hard copy program. They just sold their place in West Van and are in the process of moving, part-time to Osoyoos, to Spirit Ridge, where they have two "fractional condos". They have bought another place in downtown Vancouver but it will not be ready until end of October so they will be here until then.

We will be heading to the Farmers' Market tomorrow morning, around 9:30 am. Are you planning to take Anne and Byron? Perhaps we'll bump into you, if so. If not, will see you four around 5:30 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Scrumptious Brodo fare; Lady Dar; DJ; delish flatbread; John and Judith; Fading light on hills, just before we left winery, around 7:00 pm, was breathtaking. Unfortunately, I don't think my shots actually capture its subtle wonder.

Hi Fartologists! This Monday we are going to conquer the Summerland Pinnacles! It has been a while. A pretty easy hike but beautiful views and interesting erosional features. Hike should last no longer than 3-4 hours.
Peter Parchomchuck has kindly offered to lead the hike. We will gather at the IGA parking lot in Summerland and leave there at 8:00AM. Pentictonites should meet at 7:40AM at HH, then carpool to Summerland. And ... after our hike the usual gathering for reflection, this time for a very special treat at a very special place! Hope to see you all there! Cheers, Aart
